Are you thinking of switching over to T-Mobile soon? If so, then you should know its unlimited data plan is going to be more expensive than it was last week. Amid the hubbub of its Binge On announcement on Tuesday, the “Un-carrier” implemented a sneaky price increase on its unlimited data plans.

As Ars Technica points out, T-Mobile’s unlimited data option for its Simple Choice Amped plans costs $95 a month whereas its previous Simple Choice unlimited data option cost just $80. It’s fair to point out that T-Mobile has also doubled the monthly data allotments of its other tiered plans without raising their prices, but at the same time T-Mobile didn’t exactly go out of its way to mention the unlimited plan price increase during its big event.
We should also note that current customers won’t see a rate increase immediately — as Ars notes, “T-Mobile said in March that Simple Choice customers lock in their rates for a minimum of two years, both on limited and unlimited LTE plans.”
Incidentally, this price increase really makes Sprint’s $70 monthly unlimited plan look like a bargain, although we should note that both carriers will throttle your connection down to slower speeds during times of network congestion if you exceed certain thresholds.
