We still have no idea what Apple’s mysterious iWatch will look like but now we might know what some of its final specifications will be. Per 9to5Mac, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims Apple will launch two different versions of the iWatch — one with a 1.3-inch display and another with a 1.5-inch display. Both devices will apparently come packed with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which are both very impressive specifications for a device that will be so tiny — indeed, Samsung’s most recent Gear S smartwatch similarly packs 512MB of RAM but also comes with just 4GB of internal storage.
Kuo, who has a solid track record with Apple reports, also says that he’s not quite sure what materials Apple will use to build the watch, although he’s guessing the company will use aluminum. This also means that we still don’t know for certain whether the watch will have a sapphire display or not.
Kuo’s report that the iWatch’s display will be 1.5 inches at most is actually the smallest estimate for the device’s size that we’ve heard. Earlier this summer we read reports saying that the iWatch’s display would be as big as 1.8 inches or even a whopping 2.5 inches. In all likelihood, Apple has been trying out several different versions of the device, which explains the vast differences in supply-chain reports.
