Rumors of a next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V have been swirling since before the game even released, but now that Rockstar Games has made the port official, what exactly are we hoping to see? Prima Games has put together a list of additions and upgrades we can expect in GTA V when it lands on the PS4, Xbox One and PC this fall.
First and foremost, the visuals are the star in the new GTA V. San Andreas is by far the most detailed landmass Rockstar has ever built, but based on what we’ve seen from the port, the last-gen version was only part of the story. With enhanced environmental effects, greater draw distances and better looking character models, the city of Los Santos and the rural Blaine County will be worth exploring all over again.
Another bonus for GTA V players and newbies alike: all of the downloadable content for the single player campaign and Grand Theft Auto Online will be available for the next-gen port on day one. Rockstar hasn’t announced whether the DLC will come on the disc or require a separate download, but the fact that it will be available should excite any potential buyers.
Have you spent hours leveling up your character in GTA Online, completing every mission, buying the nicest apartment and filling your garage with expensive cars? Well luckily for you, all of that data can be transferred over to your new copy of GTA V, so you won’t miss a beat transition from one generation to the next.
As for new features, Rockstar hasn’t announced anything specific, but there’s always the chance that some PS4 or Xbox One specific features make their way into the game. We’ll have to wait until the game releases this fall to find out.
