A new report from Digitimes suggests that a majority of screens for Apple’s (AAPL) new iPad mini, fourth-generation iPad, 13-inch Retina display MacBook Pro and redesigned iMacs have come from LG Display (LPL) rather than Samsung (005930). AU Optronics (AUO) is also said to be producing displays for the iPad mini, although it is reportedly having issues producing panels and as a result is receiving fewer orders. LG Display provides tablet panels for Google (GOOG), Sony (SNE), Amazon (AMZN), HP (HPQ) and others, making it the largest display provider in the market. A recent report claimed that Samsung would terminate its contract with Apple and no longer supply the company with LCD panels. The South Korean manufacturer denied the rumor, however, confirming that it has “never tried to cut the supply for LCD panels to Apple.”
Apple reportedly ditches Samsung, turns to LG for most new display orders
