If you have been keeping up with virtual reality in any capacity over the past few years, you’ve almost certainly heard of the industry’s biggest players: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.
These are the three platforms that will likely define the VR landscape for years to come, but what you might not know is that there are dozens of other headsets with similar capabilities currently or soon to be on the market.
DON’T MISS: 24 hours with the HTC Vive was enough to turn me into a VR believer
On Tuesday, SpecOut compiled a list of the 22 best virtual reality headsets on the market. It might be hard to believe that there are even 22 headsets in existence, much less enough to make a top 22, but that’s how quickly some manufacturers have jumped on the VR train before it inevitably leaves the station.
As SpecOut explains, some of these units have augmented reality (AR) capabilities as well, but they all feature full VR. Some (like the Rift and the Vive) are more technically advanced than the others, but those are also, unsurprisingly, the most expensive devices on the list. If you’re looking for a cheap way into VR, you’re going to want to keep scrolling.
So here they are, the top 22 VR headsets available for purchase or preorder:
