On Tuesday night, it was announced on the official PlayStation Twitter account that PS4 software update v2.01 was on its way, addressing the Rest Mode issues which have been widely reported since the 2.00 update launched last week. PlayStation Europe confirmed that the rollout would commence on Wednesday, and users have begun to report that the update is currently available to download.

LAST TIME: Sony’s biggest PS4 update yet has been a complete disaster

The 2.01 update should begin downloading automatically when you power on your PS4, but if it doesn’t, navigate to the settings menu, select “System Software Update” and follow the on-screen instructions.

The 2.00 update introduced a myriad of new features to the PS4, including download management, YouTube integration, custom themes, a USB music player and Share Play, which allows your friends to join your game online even if they don’t own a copy of the game themselves. Within hours, PS4 owners began to report issues with the update, most notably the fact that the console was locking up after being put into Rest Mode.

There are several other issues beyond Rest Mode in the 2.00 system software, such as significant privacy concerns in Share Play and the as of yet unexplained issues with the Evolve alpha, but the patch notes don’t specify which, if any, have been resolved in 2.01.
