Samsung released plenty of successful products in 2013, but that doesn’t mean it plans to settle for complacency in the new year. According to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung CEO Lee Kun-hee said in his annual speech that his company plans to “get rid of business models and strategies from five, ten years ago and hardware-focused ways.” The gadget spam mentality has been relatively effective for Samsung over the past several years, but in order to maintain its momentum, Lee Kun-hee believes that his employees will need to start shifting their focus to improved software and new technologies. One of Samsung’s first steps on the software front will be exploring options beyond Android. We will see the fruits of Samsung’s labor this year when the company finally shows off some upcoming Tizen devices.
