Netflix adds support for Honeycomb tablets

mobile

Netflix subscribers can finally stream movies to their Android tablets without worrying about installing third-party .apks files or attempting annoying work-arounds. The company announced on Wednesday that its application now supports tablets running Android 3.x (Honeycomb). In addition, the Netflix app supports users in Canada and Latin America now. Netflix for Honeycomb is free, provided you already subscribe to the company’s “Watch Instantly” streaming service, and it is available in the Android Market now.

I’ve had the official, from the market, fully functioning, Netflix app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 for well over a month. I watch TV shows/movies on it daily. What is this, news from the past?

Stock Honeycomb tablets would allow the app to install but not stream movies. Modded .apks and build.prop tricks have been floating around but not official support until now.

Um, I’ve been able to stream Netflix on my Galaxy Tab since I bought it 2 months ago.

For some reason the Galaxy Tab has been supporting it, been using Netflix off the market on it for 3 months with no issues.  I updated it last night though, see nothing different, still works fine.

All this is okay but…….w.t.f. Netflix.. where is the support for Ubuntu/Linux?

Why would they add support for a platform that approximately 16 people use?

Lol iPad and iPhone have had it for like 2 years. Prolly cause they aren’t fragmented like my precious DROID OS. I hope that my DROID RAZR that might get ICS some time by June 2013 will one day get Netflix too

where the f*ck is the honeycomb source now!?

It was weird, and very annoying, but I had Netflix working and streaming on my G-Slate for months then after the tablet updated to a newer version of Honeycomb the streaming service stopped working and Netflix was no longer even available in the Android market. I’m glad that it appears to be back. I will take my Netflix account out of “hold” so I can make use of it again.
