LulzSec denies reports of leader’s arrest

Security

There are numerous reports claiming that the leader of the now infamous hacking group LulzSec has been arrested in the United Kingdom. According to London’s Metropolitan Police, the shadowy leader was a 19-year old responsible for hacking “a number of international businesses and intelligence agencies.” The group took responsibility for Sony’s recent massive security breach and has also targeted a number of high-visibility websites, including that of the Central Intelligence Agency, and has waged war on the U.S. government with another group dubbed Anonymous. Despite the reports, however, LulzSec has denied that any of its members have been arrested. Early Tuesday morning the group tweeted: “Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it’s all over now… wait… we’re all still here! Which poor b****** did they take down?”

That LulzSec guy is a classy motherfucker. I mean, look at that mustache. He’s even got a monocle. I could only hope to be associated with such debonairness.

My quess is that this is all a ploy by conservative groups who want to make liberals look bad while ensuring smooth sailing for their conservative anti-net neutrality agendas.

Net neutrality isn’t really going to be split amongst ideological lines. There are the people who understand tech, and why net neutrality is good; and then there are the people who don’t understand it, will get a bunch of comped meals, and then “realize” that net neutrality sucks a fat one and tiered internet access is the bestest.

+2 for Sqube.  Made a funny and some sense.  Good work!

And yeah… most really have no idea what it truly is… or more importantly what the implications of losing it entirely would be.

Open Competition = Good for Consumer!

        Sqube,

I am glad you made that comment.  Many people believe one side or the other is bad.  They both want what they believe is best for the country – they just have different views as to what is best.  Many are ignorant about the issues they try to regulate and that is the main problem.  Yes, there are corrupt politicians also but that is a minority and you find them in both groups.

I’ve been saying for a while…. politics isn’t about red and blue.. it’s about GREEN.  In most cases a politician will side with who ever will give them the most money, because that helps to ensure reelection.

Agreed. So why isn’t LulzSec attacking the companies pushing for (and buying politcians off) destroying net neutrality? Or for strangling data?

You can’t always expect them to go for the targets (for lack of a better term) that you would go after. They’re not vigilantes, and they’re not particularly interested in “justice” or whatever you’d call a world that understood the importance of net neutrality.

They either do shit for the lulz, or because something concrete has happened. Neither is the case for net neutrality. There’s a talk, there’s some movement, but (as far as I know) there isn’t anything meaningful.

I know, I was being sarcastic, as their mission statement was to protect the freedom of their “Internet ocean”… so you would think they’d tackle issues pertaining to that.
