Judge rules for Kodak in Apple patent dispute

Legal

An International Trade Commission (ITC) judge has ruled that Kodak did not infringe upon camera patents held by Apple. Reuters is reporting that an administrative law judge rejected the Cupertino-company’s claims, with a final decision by the ITC due on September 19th. Kodak, although not as prominent as it once was when film reigned supreme, still holds a treasure-trove of patents. “Many investors see Kodak’s value in its lucrative portfolio of intellectual property,” reads the report. “It has more than 1,000 patents and it made an estimated $630 million in 2010 from its licenses. But analysts have said this revenue from licenses is unpredictable and the portfolio might eventually dwindle.” Kodak has a pending suit filed against both Apple and Research In Motion, again surrounding smartphone camera technology, that is set to be decided upon on May 23rd.

If I remember correctly, this suit was a countersuit in response to a lawsuit filed originally by Kodak against Apple. That’s standard operating procedure when defending yourself in a patent lawsuit (if you’re a big company).

    Yay, GO Kodak.

This is truly amazing.  Apple stole its name from The Beatles and had to settle way back ing time.  Paul McCartney told them that they could use his company’s name PROVIDED that Apple never got into the music biz.  Well, we know how that ended.  The thieves at CrApple who were unable to make money out of their extremely poor computer (<10% market share in 30 years) make money by selling other people's creative efforts – iTunes.

Now they are in trouble with Kodak.  Odd really since Paul McCartney (remember him?) married Linda Eastman of. you guessed it, Eastman-Kodak.

Somebody needs to do something about CrApple and their business practices.  Seriously.

Linda “Easman” McCartney is NOT related to the Eastman-Kodak company. If you had done a simple Google search you would have discovered this.

You do know that Apple makes a ton of money off of its “<10% market share", as in the majority of the profits, right?

“It has more than 1,000 patents and it made an estimated $630 million in 2010 from its licenses” – That’s some series money for doing nothing
