Foxconn employees arrested for leaking Apple iPad 2 specs

mobile

DigiTimes is citing a report from sznews.com today that three Foxconn employees have been arrested in Shenzhen, China for leaking the design specs of the iPad 2 to third-party case manufacturers ahead of the device’s launch. The three were allegedly arrested in December of last year and were charged in late March for the leaks. Foxconn grew suspicious of its own employees after accurate third-party iPad 2 cases began popping up on the market; the firm then asked local authorities to investigate. Foxconn manufacturers electronics for a number of major companies including Apple, HP, Palm, and Sony, and it has been called out in the past for theĀ harsh treatment of its employees. don’t blame apple for this one. foxconn requested the investigation of foxconn employees.

        Naive, table of 1.

Yea, Apple didn’t force them to do it, but you’d be a fool to imagine it wasn’t their pressure to cause it.

        Idiot, table of one.

You are a fucking moron if you don’t think that Foxconn is trying to protect its MASSIVVEE contract with Apple. There are other manufacturers out there that all compete based on quality and price, and this was a REALLY big leak.

Foxxconn wants to keep Apple’s business, and employee behavior such as this doesn’t help. This isn’t Apple; this is Foxxconn looking out for itself. It’s how business works.

Its the only way Foxxconn employees can make money.. Foxxonn doesn’t pay them a decent amount, because for every Apple product they make they end up owing Apple $20.

They gave up the secret ingredients: unicorn blood and 4 leaf clovers.

thankfully they kept $3 bills a secret

May they die honorably when they’re thrown into the Sarlacc Pit.

Crappy predictable specs anyway. If anything, they did Apple a favor.

Chinese employees acting unethically?!?!?!? Say it isn’t so!!!!

Next thing you’re going to tell me – the sky is blue.

If it is true, they did crApple a favor; we all knew the specs’ on that tAmpon was going to be sub-standard, anyway!! Just proves how easily that crAppPad can be copied; I bet the counterfeit is waaaay better than the original.

        Oye no jodas a PAPITO!

Geez, is that necessary, they leaked out size dimensions over a product that didnt change much. A criminal record, jail time and losing your job and probably fines for pre released cases for a tablet. wow!

  • MaxPayne79

who cares about ipad 1.5 with its crappy cameras and Nazi software. give me the playbook instead.

  • Wildspin

Amen, they were not forced to jump off the building!

  • Joebutler85

Wasn’t too much specs to leak from what I’ve seen. Little thinner, dual-core processor, and two rather pathetic 2005 era flip phone cameras.

3rd party case manufacturer leaks are small fry… Jobs needs to figure out that Vietnamese website connection.

How they get their hands on Apple’s hardware is “magical”.

A policy is a policy no matter how overboard, and if a policy is strictly enforced, then violators will be charged.

  • Senor Chang

Who did they leak it to?

    Gizmodo?

  • Drew

What a wasted effort that was. The specs are garbage. I’m sure these workers are about fed up putting these iPods, iPads and iPhones together and never being able to own one… So they make a deal leaking specs in hopes of getting pa$d. You gotta feel sorry for them….
