Sprint clarifies, confirms new Premier member prerequisites

mobile

Way back on the 20th, we told you that Sprint would be tweaking its customer loyalty rewards program – lovingly known as Premier. Recently, Sprint contacted BGR to clarify a few details about exactly what has to happen for customers to qualify for the program’s restructured incentives.

Gold Level

A gold level member will receive 25% off the purchase of 2 or more accessories, customer news letters, “just because” perks, first to buy offers, and the ability to upgrade one device after 12 months of service. To qualify for a Premier Gold membership, users must have an individual monthly plan costing $89.99 or more or a family plan costing $169.99 (before any applicable discounts).

Silver Level

A silver level member will receive the same benefits as gold members — 25% off the purchase of 2 or more accessories, customer news letters, “just because” perks, and first to buy offers — but will not have the ability to upgrade a device after 12 months of service. To qualify for a Premier Silver membership, users must have an individual monthly plan costing between $69.99 and $89.98 or a family plan costing between $99.99 and $169.98 (before any applicable discounts).

Any customer, regardless of rate-plan price, that has been with Sprint over ten years will automatically qualify for Premier Gold. There you have it. Straight from the horses mouth.

I just hope that this won’t apply to CURRENT consumers..how do you go from telling your customer that you are a Premier customer to “you have been demoted” to silver .. if that becomes an issue.. then I’ll move to T-mobile.

They can change their programs anytime they want. It’s even written in their agreements somewhere that they have the ability to remove or change promotions as they see fit.
Eventually you are going to run out of carriers to change to if you switch everytime u don’t agree with the changes the carriers implement.
Don’t think for a second that their LAWYERS (plural) aren’t better than your lawyer if you think to go that lawsuit route

I’ve been demoted. Sprint should grandfather those who are current Premier customers and allow them to upgrade at 12 months. This just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I had no plans to switch since I love Sprint. But this just pisses me off. Now, I may think of switching.

I’ve been a Premiere (aka Gold) customer for as long as I can remember, & have had the $69.99 plan since it came out. Just upgraded from the HTC Hero to the HTC Evo 4G for $99, oh and I sold my Hero for more than I bought my Evo for.

If you are a Sprint customer, there are some easy ways to get 10% off your bill, just call customer service!

“Furthermore, we’re being told that those currently enrolled in Premier will not be grandfathered-in to Premier’s gold level program once the changes are implemented in April. Ouch”

Any clarification about this? I just (2 days ago) signed a contract with Sprint, and if I won’t get an upgrade in a year, I may be changing…

Know this is a bit untimely for this string, but I just got my new Sprint Premier information today. I have been a Sprint customer for roughly 6-7 years, and I am effectively being demoted out of the top tier of the premier customers. Boo hoo, ya know? Anyway, here’s what I know. I have five phones and a wi-fi card through this company, spend approximately 350 bucks a month religiously for their service. Yet I do not qualify for the Premier Gold because my base plan isn’t 169.99 or more and my wi-fi card is not considered part of my base plan. To me, the only real loss here is losing the ability to switch phones every year on my main line if I wanted. If you qualify for the Premier Gold, you can annually upgrade for each qualifying line now, which would be good. Also the fine print at the bottom says “must maintain 3-month average of qualifying base rate plan. Add-on services do not qualify”. So it’s not just as simple as upgrading your plan. In my case, I may be better to let those lines expire this year and find a new carrier.

Thanks Sprint for taking away my ability to get a new phone every year. What a great new deal. In the end its not you that will be screwing over your customers, because we will all be gone. Hello AT&T with the 49.00 I phone. Sprint you really should fire the idiot who came up with this gold silver plan.

SPRINT IS TWEAKING ANOTHER WORD FOR SCREWING? THANKS FOR DEMOTING MY BENEFITS.
