Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Tab to retail for €699 and €799 in Europe

Rumor

Warning: the information we are about to provide you is unconfirmed; please consume with a hefty dose of NaCl. European news and retail outlets are reporting that Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy Tab 7-inch tablet will retail for €699 ($897) and €799 ($1,025) for the 16 GB and 32 GB models respectively.  Those prices are high enough to cause nose bleeds! For comparisons sake: in Germany, Apple’s 9-inch iPad 3G retails for €599 and €699 for the 16 GB and 32 GB models respectively. Hopefully these prices are just speculative and the tablet is closer to the $500 price range when it makes its appearance stateside. What do you think the appropriate price tag is for the the Gally Tab?

I wil take a plasticky Archos 10″ for $299 and load the market on it myself. I would definitely rather buy 3 of those and give one each to my niece and nephew.
I thought this thing would be $350 tops… I guess you may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

Wow. My interest suddenly dropped from “Hrm.. I think I will actually pick this up over an iPad…” to “Are you f’n kidding me?” I’ve been wanting to try out Android for a while now, and what better way to experience it than in a tablet format, where you get the openness of a more desktop like experience, yet the portability of an eReader. I was very excited about the slightly smaller 7″ screen (even though I was hoping for slight res improvements), as the iPad is a good size, but just a bit big, to me. Sure, I was expecting this to cost more than Kindle, but… If it exceeds $599 for the 16GB model CONTRACT FREE, expect ZERO chance of business from me. Locally, I can pick up very slightly used iPads for as little as $400. Sammy? Are you hearing this? Take note: you have an excellent opportunity here — don’t blow it! Either iPad 2 or this one will be my choice, but it MUST fit in the budget.

What is Samsung smoking? Are they out of their mind to actually price this tablet higher than the ipad? I think Samsung is being a little bit too ambitious here. Its selling point would’ve been its more affordable price, and they blew it big time. With this tablet being more expensive than the more popular and established ipad, it just lost its chance to even compete with the ipad. Fail.

WOW!! i was considering buying one too to get my hands on android but ARE YOU BLEEPING KIDDING ME?? if this is the price this will be the first and last Tab they will make. big FAIL!!! I for sure am not buying not even close to that price. I was expecting it to be even cheaper than the iPad! well I guess the answer is next gen iPad here I come for you.

Hahahaha, I guess this isn’t the iPad killer everyone was dreaming it would be. What do all the haters of apple’s “overpriced” products say now???

Enjoy your subsidized $500-600 dollar Verizon tablet with it’s $30-50/month data plan.

i could buy a laptop and a netbook for that price.

lets see….2 ipads or 1 galaxy tab?….Samsung?…are you crazy??….You may as well cancel the whole tablet line now…no one will pay double for this when the ipad is already the hot item..what a shame.

I would wager that VAT has something to do with this crazy high price.

Euro pricing can not be trusted.

That’s probably the price with a 2 year contract. They are calling it a tablet, but for all intents and purposes, it’s a Galaxy S smartphone with a 7 inch screen. Why in the world would something like that be cheaper than the smaller model? I think that if Samsung really wants to establish this, they can offer additional discount like they are doing with their Galaxy S smartphones, but I’m not sure if that’s what they plan to do at this point.

I’m trying to decide between the Galaxy Tab and the ExoPC.

ExoPC preorders are starting tonight for forum members.

That’s the price with “carrier subsidies” so you have to sign a contract which will more than likely mean $30+/month

RELAX….peepz….Sammy is aware of the competition….believe me…it will be priced as such……lol RELAX
