HTC pushing out Android 2.2 update to those who updated early

General

If you’re one of those people who just couldn’t wait for the official build of Android 2.2 to drop on your HTC EVO 4G, and updated a little early with an unofficial patch, an HTC sanctioned OS update is ready to go! As promised, HTC has started to push out Android 2.2 (version 3.26.562.6) to EVO handsets that were updated with the unofficial 2.2 update (3.26.561.3) sometime in the last few weeks. The update is over-the-air, if you’re rocking a build that isn’t exactly “street legal,” head on over to System Updates on your device and ask your EVO to fetch you the new goodies.

the fact that this is a non-gsm device kills it… cdma is for chumps

    • RT

CDMA is actually for people who successfully make phone calls. Nice try though!

    Epic please

    My phones still on 1.6

    Side note here:
The Evo 4G (pictured here) is a really nice design.

Anyone posting a negative comment about the EVO just can’t get one to buy and only wish they had considered standing on line June 4th like many of us who actually have one. EVO is better than any iDud out there (I’ve had 2 iDummies and several Microshit Windowless phones and the EVO makes them all look like iCrap).

Don’t rag’ on EVO because you can’t get one.
By the time that Droid Pro comes out, Congress will have instituted the law that denies U.S. carriers the legality of locking phones.

If you’re that jealous, go wrap some Duct Tape around your nose and mouth while holding your iDoody with one finger.

Move along, Blackberry Morons. Nothing to see here.

  • Zomer

I’m supprised by the thicknes, with such a huge suface, you would have guesed that the thickness would have been less.

  • EVO Owner

Any EVO owner noticing a negative impact on the screen’s auto-orientation adjustment after installing the 2.2 update? I find myself having to tap the phone — seemed like before the screen would adjust more when I turned it from vertical to horizontal and vice versa.

  • EVO

Hey, I just wanted to point out that the build numbers should be 3.26.651.6 (for the true build) and 3.26.651.3. On the actual sprint link, the numbers are correct.

Meanwhile, those of us waiting patiently for HTC to issue our official update for the Incredible, the best phone on the best network, can keep… waiting.

that’s the problem with android, so much segmentation regarding which phones run which OS version

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

If you’re going to use the common bullshit excuse to bash the platform, please get the word right at least.

  • avacomputers

    @Zomer. That’s what she said.

  • hdman

Android too messy still……I don’t need the time on the screen twice…..lol

  • PAPINYC

    @EVO Owner

No problem with auto-orientation on my EVO; updated early to 2.2 August 2nd.
Did you try recalibrating G Sensor?
Have you installed a new App’ since the update?

    • EVO Owner

Re-calibrate the G-Sensor. I’m a moron….not on the iPhone moron level, but I should have tried that. Thank you!

This is really one of great handset of the world. Now HTC is releasing update of Android 2.2 to its EVO 4G for those consumers who has update there handset earlier. This handset has very awesome features and it can easily attract the attention of consumers.

  • ToatsMcGoats

This is weird, I was prompted by my phone to download and install this update 2 weeks ago…haven’t had any issues with it. Love my EVO!

  • PAPINYC

    Good one. Your welcome.

    EVO kills iCrap!

  • Jaydizzle

Can I take a minute to show some love for HTC? I’m completely but pleasantly surprised that a company would take the time to release an update specifically for people that applied a leaked early version… any other manufacturer would have simply given us the middle finger. Kudos!

    • Eric

Good point! Apple certainly would have.

  • tim

Does anybody know when HTC will be bringing 2.2 to the droid incredible???

  • Rivers M

    Yes! Incredible please.

  • Eric

Where is the 2.2 update for the HTC Droid Incredible? I think I have waited, patiently, long enough. I am now impatient!!

  • krodami

I am glad i waited to update my phone from .3 to .6 i was going to do a full wipe and upgrade from XDA but this made my life 100 times easier now, thank you Sprint and HTC

I’ve been waiting quite patiently for that 2.2 upgrade for my HTC Incredible…. Does anyone have any news for that?!?! Is there a reason ? Or is it simply that the wait has to be incredible as well??
