Nokia demands return of N8 from Eldar Murtazin, asks Russian Police for assistance

Nokia is on the warpath regarding the leaked N8 prototype handset that was the subject of a scathing review by Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-Review. Nokia publicly announced on its Conversations blog that it sent a written request to Murtazin asking for the return of this unauthorized property. Murtazin reportedly failed to respond to this letter and Nokia has sought the assistance of the Russian police. Nokia claims that this heavy-handed response was not prompted by the negative review from Murtazin but out of a need to protect its intellectual property. The tale gets even more sordid with Murtazin claiming via Twitter that he was never contacted by Nokia and accuses them of lying about the letter.

I’m not going to lie, this story is boring and I skimmed through the first half, yet decided to tell you about how boring it is. How many people care about Nokia or Russia?

You’re a dumbass. If you had any history you would know that Eldar has been providing awesome reviews for phones for many years. He’s covered all manufacturers, not just Nokia and he is a legend for getting ahold of phones way before other reviewers could even dream of it.

So do a little research before you pipe off dumbass comments on things that you know nothing about.

I’m sure that Nokia demands that people give a crap about their phones, too. But the last thing Nokia did that was relevant was in 1997 so I’m not sure anyone cares.

Wait, I meant to say DROID FTW!!!!!

    ahem… excuse me…

Seems like the Russian edition of the iPhone v4 fiasco….except us Americans could not give a hoot about Nokia products. They refused to really market to “US” excluding the e71…and that was minimum. Most of their promising phones are impossible to get unless its via online.

Plus, while the iphone and android phones moved to apps, Nokia seemingly wanted to stay with symbian (which is great, but now becoming ancient)

Sorry Nokia….you may still have the worldwide market on lock…but you will never have “US”

What’s Nokia? They make phones? Huh.

  • Chona

    Oh well. Ok, next.

  • davesmall

I guess Nokia must still be in business. Surprise.

The N8 is a Beast. I’m actually considering on getting one instead of the iP4 (too many issues atm) or another android (currently have a GSM HTC Hero). It’s all a matter of preferences really. I love Nokia’s hardware and for the most part, the ‘ancient’ OS still gets the job done, and as long as I can use mfe on Symbian, then I can just use it to sync up my contacts/calendar/email.

As for the Eldarr dude, I heard he is a real douche bag and just has it out for Nokia due to being a bitter former employee.

Ah well, it will hold me over until they come out with a new version of an iPhone or to a nice, stable version of Android (4.0?).

Oh wait, I company not named Apple wants their beta test phone back. Shocker. I’m sure all the haters will find a way to blame Apple for this too. ::sigh::

  • TypicalVZWRMDBAG

    Nokia is a joke.

  • sean76

Seems like hype if you ask me….Nokia is in the Dog House, and they’ll do just about anything to get a little attention. Sorry guys, but if your looking for a current version of the Gizmodo, iPhone fiasco….think again! No interest

I’ve had the Nseries N75, 8862, N95 8gb before the Iphone and I still think Nokia makes the best quality phones, build and call quality. They messed up with having no marketing/ advertising here in the US and outdated OS. Curious to see how the Meego will do. They make a lot of low and mid range phones thats popular in third world countries, thats why they still have the world market.

    • HD

Dude.. though you are right for most part…
stop calling every other country a third world than your so called first world country (if you are referring US) which by the way is broke, under huge debts …
And FYI those third world are supplying most of the money you spend like produced from you a**…

Um – objectivity is at an all time high regarding Nokia, not. Perhaps some of you haters should look up your facts before making comments such as, are they still alive, etc. Makes you look very stupid and ill informed.

As regards the anti-Russian comment, que? While I am not pro-Russian government, what’s up with that? Who cares about you? Loser.

  • Ben

BTW – your fantastic iphone works well, when you don’t hold it…lame. If this was Nokia, can you imagine the bad press?

  • Counsel

If it is a leaked prototype, nokia doesn’t have to contact him first…

  • NotEldar

Nokia had already posted a nice request to him on their blog asking him to give the device back about a month ago. Eldar Murtazin also works as a consultant for Samsung. I think this fact alone compromises his credibility as a reviewer or “journalist”. Who knows what other Nokia trade secrets he has been able to pass on to Samsung.

    • RealConsultant

“Consultant” is what he proclaimed himself having no clue what that means. You have to be good at something to be a consultant, I mean get paid for your services. He obviously lives on ad sales

      • NotEldar

I think it’s clear what “consultant” means in this case. He gets paid for stealing trade secrets for, and cheeleading the competition. His credibility is out the window. Just go to his blog and see the way he started writing about Nokia and Samsung after he became a paid “consultant”. It was literally a U-turn.

  • seriuously

are they trying to copy the iphone incident to they can get free publicity, wow.

    • Amazed

I am really amazed how so many of you kiss stevy-o’s a** every morning…
He says anything and you follow… no brains at all..

    I am really amazed

    Eldar Murtazin’s press statement:

Summary: He does not have the nokia N8 in his possession, He is not a consultant for samsung…
