Hoping they include FLAC downloads as an available lossless codex. Its a notable omission from itunes and amazon.

This seems like a push against itunes. perhaps music client for android?

    • Tony

a dedicated desktop music client would make android phones a lot more attractive

      • Mike W

I agree Tony. Google is very good at providing efficient software. I never enjoyed working with iTunes because of it’s sluggish performance. However, my fear is that they are too focused within the web-based realm for PC/Mac. Perhaps Chrome Frame and Chrome OS technologies will lead to an Adobe AIR-esque platform so it keeps with Google’s mindset but also brings us users that functionality to the desktop.

Google wants to conquer the world D:! LOL

I use iTunes, but more competition improves the breed.

How many sources did they cite?

can Google copy Apple any more? They are like the knock off store brand at grocery stores. It says its the same thing, but it just doesnt taste the same…

    • StevenHamburg

be quiet slut! if you want to play the copy card, don’t use apple in your hand. go back a few more years…

      • jfr

Is it possible to make your point without ridiculous and extremely childish name calling? Or is that too much to ask?

    • Patrick Moto Droid

please, apple has released nothing new worthy of a footnote as of late

    • ViniD

Competition is good, it will bring the price of music down and then ppl will start actully buyin music instead of downloading for free. First of all there were cell phones before apple made one, there was music downloads before apple, Only thing apple did an awsome job with is their making laptops and operating system.

    Hello anti-trust investigation.

Google does understand that the bigger they get, with more services like this, the bigger target they are for regulators, don’t they? Just because they’re Google doesn’t mean the government’s going to ignore them.

  • Tom

Just feels like they are getting their hands on everything. I am guessing they are the walmart of Internet. Not that it’s bad but just wish they could just improving some of the online offerings like google calendar, analytics, doc etc. Just feels like they throwing random-half-baked products and see what stick. Ugh.

I said it on here before, Google will be a real world “Skynet” ( the company that made the terminator and thus created a computer so smart it decided to kill humans).

They are getting into to many things and spreading themselves to thin. They are either going to implode or destroy. I think they will hit a point where they will be forced to regress.

Still, Eric Schmidt did a good job taking notes of all the shit he stole while on the board of directors. Nice job Eric you thief.

    • bonesb

The day Google gets their hands on the wireless whitespace spectrum is the day Skynet goes live…

  • EricCartmanVoicesSay”WTF GOOGLE?!”

Google is going to be like Starbucks. Too famous too fast and spreading too quickly. Sooner or later, they will have to close a few shops and scale down.

  • rehnhart

The great part of this is that you could listen and read content on multiple devices, on multiple carriers. Android, Chrome, laptops, netbooks, and tablets could all be used to access the material.

  • MikeD

I think its a good thing to have competition. If Google can add more pressure on music labels tolow with pricing as Apple already has done, IS A GOOD THING. I welcome it.

    On another note…

Its very interesting to see people warming up to value added services from the very same maker of their devices OS. I guess because its Google why all of a sudden its a good thing. I was under the impression that only sheep do that. y’know, use the music service the from the same company that you get your maps, email, docs and now music. If we were to put the word Apple instead of Google there would be an uprorar of jackassery on a monumental level. And you guys know who you are. Can’t wait to see all the gushing over the Google music. maybe then the fools will realize that in the end they want the same thing just from a different vendor.

Like I always say, a good idea is a good idea. And it doesn’t matter who it comes from.

What people need to worry about is focus on wanting Google to implement it well. The can’t roll out a music service and have it look and feel beta. This is the time for Google to look polished with a service.

    Good luck GMusic
