Samsung Acclaim to hit U.S. Cellular in July

U.S. Cellular, the nation’s #7 carrier, recently confirmed it will be introducing a second Android handset this summer, the Samsung Acclaim — previously known as the R880. The Acclaim is a mid-level handset that will find its niche underneath its flagship cousin, the HTC Desire. Details are scarce, but we we do know is the Acclaim will feature a full QWERTY keyboard, Android 2.1, and a 3.2 inch HVGA screen. You can look for both the Acclaim and the Desire to hit the shelves of U.S. Cellular in July. Any U.S. Cellular customers thinking about the Acclaim over the Desire?

Would like to see pictures of the acclaim. I’m sure when and if I switch, I’ll go with the desire though.

Sorry, but if its not Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or even TMobile (don’t even mention cricket/metro pcs) then its not worth talking about

No one outside of rural, country areas probably know US Cellular…i sure as hell dont.

The funny part is that even you have no idea just how ignorant that comment is.

umm us cellular has the best service ever and it works anywhere. Verizon sucks altel sucks, and Sprint sucks but they have the best phones

Just what we need, another android phone in an already crowded cellphone market. I think phone companies should worry more about customer service than releasing a new phone every month

@MJElvisBeatles If you want to call Chicago, Milwaukee, STL, and Madison rural your spot on. Although small, USCC has the best coverage in the Midwest so why don’t you keep your comments to yourself.

Anyway, its good to see USCC finally step up to the Android plate. Might have to put down my Tour to give the Desire a try, though I agree, pics of the ‘Acclaim’ would be nice.

VZ did not have coverage in Southern NH for a very long time, so I was USCC customer for quite a few years. Yes they are relatively small carrier, but in certain markets they are doing a really great job and their customer service is really good too. Good to see some updated phones are getting to USCC.
