Say what you will about Tesla, one unassailable fact about Tesla owners is that they love their cars more than any other group of car owners on the planet. According to recently published data from Consumer Reports, Tesla was the top ranking car brand with respect to customer satisfaction in 2016. In turn, Tesla easily bested strong competition from the likes of traditional and more exprienced luxury automakers such as Porsche and Audi.

As for the survey’s methodology, Consumer Reports asked respondents if they would “definitely” buy their current vehicle if they were forced to do it all over again. When the dust settled, an impressive 91% of Tesla owners responded that they would, in fact, either purchase their Model S or Model X again. Car brands rounding up the top 5 included Porsche (84%), Audi (77%), Subaru (76%) and Toyota (76%).

All in all, it’s an impressive showing from Tesla who, despite some early problems with the Model X, quickly addressed and rectified any issues that a few early Model X adopters experienced. Indeed, one of the reasons why Tesla likely ranked so high, aside from the car’s many compelling features, is that the company is incredibly committed to fixing problems as they arise.

To this point, you might recall that Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed during an earnings conference call this past May that he positioned his desk at the end of the Model X production line in order to remain as hands-on as possible as the company sought to fix production issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“My desk is at the end of the production line,” Musk said a few months back. “I have a sleeping bag in a conference room next to the production line that I use quite frequently.”

Interestingly enough, Consumer Reports earlier this year thrashed the Model X in an unofficial review and outright said that Tesla was one of the least reliable car brands. All that said, it stands to reason that the most important data point to consider is how Tesla owners themselves view their cars. And in that regard, Tesla absolutely trounces the competition.
