From the outset, Microsoft has marketed the Xbox One as not only a gaming platform, but an all-in-one media center. Although it hasn’t reached its full potential quite yet, the next several months will bring a slew of new features to the console that should move it closer to Microsoft’s original vision. First up: access to the NFL Network. CED Magazine reports that Microsoft is working with NeuLion, an online video streaming company, to bring live NFL games to the Xbox One at 60 frames-per-second. The NFL Network app will be available to users with a subscription to Xbox Live Gold and a cable subscription that carries the channel.
Xbox One owners already have access to an NFL app, but it is limited to stats, score and video highlights. The NFL Network app, on the other hand, will deliver live streams from NFL games at up to 720p resolution and 60 FPS. NeuLion also says that its seven stream quality options will eliminate buffering altogether. There is no release information yet for the NFL Network on Xbox One, but co-f0under Chris Wagner says that NeuLion plans to “deliver for Xbox fans a tremendous live sports experience on the game console.”
