As if Samsung didn’t already have enough help promoting its popular Galaxy smartphones, the company is apparently close to finalizing a deal with rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z that could be worth as much as $20 million. An unnamed source tells The New York Post that Jay-Z will “want to develop some kind of new music-streaming service to promote his acts and music on mobile devices” as part of the deal, although this is unlikely to be the main feature of the eight-figure agreement between the two parties. 9to5Google speculates that Jay-Z, whose business acumen has helped him achieve success in a wide range of fields including his Rocawear clothing line and his burgeoning Roc Nation Sports agency, “will be bringing his marketing prowess to Samsung” and will help bolster the company’s already considerable advertising arsenal.
