Although Samsung just loves to release a huge number of different versions of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone every year, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A really looks like something special. If you want proof of this, head on over to AnandTech, which has just run a series of tests on the Galaxy S5 LTE-A and has found that its battery overall performs even better than the regular Galaxy S5’s even though it has to support both a much higher display resolution and a radio that delivers much faster data speeds than the standard LTE radio found in the Galaxy S5.

“While there’s been a lot of discussion over the impact of 1440p displays on battery life and performance, it seems that Samsung has managed to make the move to 1440p without losing performance or battery life for the most part,” AnandTech writes, while claiming that a lot of the improvements seem to be due to the S5 LTE-A’s Adreno 420 GPU, which is a lot more power efficient than the Adreno 330 GPU found in the Galaxy S5.

The S5 LTE-A features a 5.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, or 576 pixels per inch, which means that we can look forward to future Samsung phones that both deliver even better displays and better battery life compared to anything we’ve yet seen from the company.
