is reportedly working on a tablet so big that it may even make Apple’s rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro seem minuscule by comparison. According to SamMobile, the company that popularized the phablet is now hard at work on a tablet with a gargantuan 18.4-inch display.
Based on information obtained by the site, the rumored tablet will sport a TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, an octa-core 64-bit 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 processor, 2GB of RAM, a respectable 32GB of storage, and to top it all off, a microSD card slot. Rumored to run Android 5.1 Lollipop, the device will reportedly feature an 8 megapixel rear facing camera and a front facing 2.1 megapixel camera.
DON’T MISS: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 review
Likely not intended for personal use, SamMobile relays that the gargantuan device will likely be geared towards living rooms, office environments, and perhaps classrooms.
It remains unclear, though, just how practical or necessary such a device is. But if there’s any company willing to roll the dice and see what happens, it’s certainly Samsung. The company, to its credit, has no problem with throwing any and everything against the wall in an effort to see what sticks. As a quick example, many people were quick to laugh at the Galaxy S6 Edge upon its release, but the device actually turned out to be much more popular than even Samsung anticipated.
As for a release date for Samsung’s rumored 18.4-inch tablet, well, there’s no word on that front just yet. But if Samsung is truly working on such a device, we imagine we’ll see more details come down through the rumor mill sooner rather than later.
