In what is sure to be a morale booster
, RIM has decided to limit some of its Ottawa-based employees’ vacations and force them to work six days a week, the Ottawa Citizen reports. The reason RIM is cracking the whip is pretty obvious: it really, really, really would be well-served to stop delaying its next-generation BlackBerry 10 platform and get it out the door. As the Citizen notes, app developers that RIM has been courting for BlackBerry 10 are already irate over the delay and will be more likely to jump ship should RIM push back the BlackBerry 10 launch date again. And needless to say, forcing employees to give up vacation time and half their weekends rather undercuts RIM CEO Thorsten Heins’ assertion that “there’s nothing wrong with the company as it exists right now.”
