Everything has been coming up roses for the PlayStation brand over the past year, but it’s finally time for some bad news.
Sony announced on Wednesday that PlayStation Mobile will be shutting down for good before the end of the year. If you weren’t aware of PlayStation Mobile, it was Sony’s initiative to bring bite-sized games to both Android devices and the PS Vita, but it clearly never attracted a large enough audience to take off.

Sony ceased publication of new mobile games on Android last year, but the same will apply to the PS Vita starting on July 15th. Then, on September 10th, the site will be shut down entirely and users will be unable to access or download PlayStation Mobile games.
If you want to retain access to any of the PlayStation Mobile games you’ve purchased on your Vita, you need to read Sony’s short guide which explains how to activate your account for PlayStation Mobile downloads even after September 10th.
