The Perseid meteor shower is at peak visibility this week, which means it’s your best time to check it out without the need for a telescope. NASA informs us that the best time to watch the Perseids is at 4 a.m. ET, or 1 a.m. PT, which means you’ll have to either stay up late or wake up early to catch it. But for dedicated stargazers, we’re sure it will be worth the late night/early morning.

“Look towards the familiar constellations Cassiopeia and Perseus in the northeast,” NASA instructs us. “They rise soon after sunset, but you’ll want to wait til they are higher in the sky to see the most meteors.”
NASA says the meteor shower will be at its peak on both on August 12th and August 13th, so you have two nights to see them at their brightest.
