If you haven’t been watching Mr. Robot over the past several weeks, you’ve missed out on the best show of the summer. Ill admit, when I first saw a trailer for the show in a movie theater months ago, I was utterly uninterested. But after reading consistently positive reviews for the show week after week, I finally caught up this weekend ahead of the finale.
It was a smart choice.

The show is unique, intriguing, and frighteningly prescient — just days before the Ashley Madison hack rocked the Internet to its core, our hero, Elliot Alderson, hacked another character on the show to discover that he was cheating on his wife using an assumed name. The man also had an account on Ashley Madison.
It’s eerie just how much the show feels like it’s taking place alongside our current reality, from the stock market scare to the tragedy in Virginia, which is surely one of the biggest reasons that Mr. Robot resonated with viewers this year. And that’s not just my opinion — as EW pointed out on Thursday, every episode of season 1 has a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The 10 episode season wasn’t flawless, but it was the most exhilarating show on television this summer: a must-watch if you have access to cable. The entire series is currently streaming on the USA Network website, so if you are looking for something to binge this weekend, forget Netflix — you need Mr. Robot in your life.
