Not long after Google unveiled its gorgeous Android L update at I/O 2014, a fake Motorola Facebook account claimed that the Moto X and Moto G would be updated to Android L in the future. A few days later, Motorola revealed the account was not genuine, and the information posted on it should be disregarded. However, the company did not say what handsets will make the jump to Android L until a few days ago, when a short “Yup” from Motorola’s Punit Soni cleared the waters, at least when it comes to the Moto X.

FROM EARLIER: Motorola Nexus 6 reportedly really coming, as Android Silver might be delayed

Google+ user Josh B. asked on Google+ whether the Moto X is “still going to get Android L (5.0),” and quickly received confirmation from Motorola’s executive.

Soni did not reveal any other details about Android L for Motorola devices, but considering that the company has updated many of its 2013 handsets to Google’s latest Android OS versions almost immediately after their respective launches, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Moto X get Android L soon after the Nexus and Google Play Edition receive it.

Google is expected to release Android L at some point in the fall, likely alongside new Nexus hardware, including a Motorola Nexus 6 phablet that’s reportedly in the works.
