Microsoft made some mistakes with Windows 8. The software, which was the first major step toward realizing Microsoft’s vision of a future where PC and tablet interfaces merge, was not well received by consumers or businesses. PC sales have slowed even more as a result, but Microsoft has shown that it is willing to take a few steps back by undoing some damage with its upcoming Windows 8.1 update. The Start button is coming back, though it likely won’t satisfy the horde of users wishing Microsoft would bring back its old Windows Start menu, and several other changes are in store as well. Microsoft’s annual Build conference kicks off with its customary keynote where Microsoft will focus on Windows 8.1 and more, and video of this year’s event will be streamed live on Microsoft’s Channel 9 site. The show begins at 12:00 p.m. EDT, 9:00 a.m. PDT, and a link to the live stream can be found below in the source section.
