1:24 PM: We’re here, the disco balls are going and there is a white pedestal with a mystery device under it… wonder what it could be?

1:26 PM: One more pic of the “mystery device”

1:35 PM: Lights are down. Show time!

1:36 PM: Dan Hesse is here!

1:37 PM: Uh oh! The world’s first 3G/4G smartphone… the HTC EVO

1:37 PM: HD video recording, 8 megapixel camera, 4.3″ high-res screen, has built-in fold out kickstand

1:38 PM: 1 GHz Snapdragon processor

1:38 PM: Android 2.1 with Google

1:39 PM: Peter Chow, CEO of HTC, is on now.

1:41 PM: Pics are coming, I’m about 3 feet from the stage.

1:46 PM: Adobe Flash support will be included!

1:47 PM: Just to be clear, this is a EV-DO 3G and WiMAX 4G device, dual-mode. Yum.

1:51 PM: Previewing YouTubeHQ browser, brand new app.

1:52 PM: YouTube will detect your 4G connection and will automatically give you HQ content when it is available. They are comparing HQ on the EVO 4G vs. standard definition on the DROID. Ouch.

1:54 PM: HDMI output on the phone. Can output to any TV with HDMI port. Can play HD video’s side loaded onto the device as well.

1:56 PM: This phone’s screen looks gorgeous.

1:57 PM: 8 megapixel camera, has built-in flash, too. 720p video recording. Drooooool.

1:58 PM: 1.3 megapixel front facing camera as well. Can stream video from either camera — video calling support!

1:59 PM: Demoing Google Goggles. Results are almost instant with the 4G coverage here in Las Vegas.

2:00 PM: They just demoed pinch-and-zoom in the browser. Yes folks, it has multitouch.

2:02 PM: EVO 4G mobile hotspot app will allow you to use the phone as a mobile router, can connect up to 8 people.  Yes, 8.

2:04 PM: Demoing high-res streaming. Has a Roku Netflix appliance streaming a Netflix video in HD off of the EVO 4G. Ridiculous.

2:05 PM: “We’ve saved some secrets for just before launch.”

2:06 PM: That’s all folks. We’ll post our hands on later in the day!  Cheers.

UPDATE: I was typing so frantically that I forgot to mention that the actual name of the device is the HTC EVO 4G. Woops!
