In a few weeks, LG will unveil its fourth-generation G-branded smartphone, a device that will arrive at least a month after rival phones like the Galaxy S6 line and the HTC One M9. However, LG already seems to have some tricks up its sleeve for the LG G4, with camera quality being one of them. In fact, as Korea IT Times reports, the LG G4’s monster cameras have apparently been confirmed, and LG is ready to give the iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy S6 a run for their money when it comes to camera performance.

LG Innotek on Thursday confirmed that it’s making a special f/1.8 camera module for the LG G4, being the company’s widest aperture camera developed for a smartphone.
The “groundbreaking” 16-megapixel main camera on the LG G4 will take in 80% more light than the camera on the LG G3, the publication notes, which would lead to “better looking images in low light environments and less blur when shooting action and fast moving objects.”
If that doesn’t sound impressive enough, LG is ready to woo buyers with a monster front-facing shooter as well, for even better selfies. According to the report, the front-facing camera module packs an 8-megapixel sensor with an ultra-thin IR filter which keeps infrared light from entering the camera lens, “giving images taken with the front camera more natural and accurate colors.” The special IR filter is just 0.11mm thick, or half the depth of competing IR filters.
LG has already started touting the camera performance of its upcoming LG G4 smartphone in recent teasers, without revealing too many details about the handset. The phone should be unveiled during a special April 28th media event, and launched in stores at some point theareafter.
