Apple might not launch a smaller iPhone model this year, but a new iPhone 7 concept envisions a new way to bring one-hand operation back for iPhone users without reducing the display size.

Posted on DevianArt by StudioMonroe, the iPhone 7 render below features the same design as the iPhone 6, and it seems to be inspired by the Apple Watch in terms of the display’s shape. The device features an edge-to-edge screen flanked by metal, just like the Watch, though Apple’s smartwatch doesn’t exactly feature an edge-to-edge screen.
The absence of a Touch ID home button would let Apple reduce the size of the iPhone while maintaining the same screen size and home button features. Touch ID fingerprint scanner functionality would be embedded in the display, as we’ve seen in an old Apple patent application, and Force Touch would mimic the home button.
Of note, a front-facing camera doesn’t seem to be present, and the mute and volume controls appear to be gone as well. The standby button on the left is the only element protruding from the metal frame.
The iPhone 7 render below is just a concept and has nothing to do with Apple’s actual iPhone 7 plans. The company is expected to launch its iPhone 6s family this year, likely similar to the iPhone 6 when it comes to overall design. Then an iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will likely debut in 2016.
