While Apple (AAPL) surely wants its customers to pay a premium for iPhone 5 dock port adapters from the company store, some savvy third-party manufacturers have already started undercutting Apple’s accessory. 9to5Mac reports that the first third-party iPhone 5 adapters have gone on sale at Amazon (AMZN) and are selling for between $10 and $18, significantly less than the $29 Apple is charging for its own adapter. The site has only spotted two companies selling third-party port adapters so far — iTronz and Nanotch — but there are sure to be more as Apple fans who don’t want to fork over $29 for an adapter start scouring the web for a bargain.
