Ahead of each new iPhone launch, there always seem to be at least a few reports that claim supply will be squeezed. In keeping with tradition, Digitimes on Wednesday cited multiple unnamed sources in Apple’s (AAPL) Eastern supply chain in stating that the company’s initial supply of iPhones may be more than 25% short of its original order. According to the report, the use of new in-cell touchscreen technology on Apple’s next-generation iPhone has resulted in unforeseen challenges, and third-quarter “iPhone 5” shipments will fall from 20 million units to less that 15 million as a result. Apple’s next iPhone is expected to feature a larger 4-inch display, 4G LTE, NFC and a 7.6-millimeter-thin case when it is unveiled during a press conference on September 12th.
