Apple (AAPL) will reportedly be the “exclusive initial vendor” of a 9-pin iPhone 5 dock adapter that will allow the smartphone to be compatible with older 30-pin accessories, unnamed sources have told iLounge. Apple’s new “Dock Connector Adapter” reportedly costs $10 when sold separately and $29 when sold in a three-pack, while its new USB cables will sell for $19 each. iLounge’s sources claim that Apple estimates it will sell 10 million Dock Connector Adapters by the end of 2012, generating $100 million in revenue. Apple will announce its next-generation iPhone at a press event on September 12th.
