The good news here is that you don’t need to have a high-end camera like the ones professional photographers use — because this is Instagram, your smartphone will do, particularly if it’s an iPhone 6s, a Galaxy S6, a Sony Xperia Z5 or an LG G4.
So given that Franata relies on his iPhone to take all his photos, what are his tricks for making them instantly shareable? Here are some basics:
- He doesn’t take photos from straight-on angles. Instead, he experiments with getting really close to what he’s photographing or taking a shot of it from perspectives that are higher or lower than his eye level.
- He looks for things that have strong symmetry or color contrasts to photograph. This takes some training but once you get used to spotting symmetrical patterns and striking contrasts, you’ll want to stop right in your tracks to photograph them.
- Having the proper photo-editing apps can also be hugely beneficial to improving pictures — Franta’s four main picks here are VSCO, AfterLight, Facetune and SKRWT.
