Google (GOOG) has started pushing its Google Now virtual assistant as a superior alternative to Siri in a new ad that shows how the software gives you important information at the exact time you need it. Among other things, the ad shows Google Now giving a woman weather information just as she’s about to step outside, giving people restaurant recommendations based on their current locations and reminding a father on a business trip to attend a Google+ hangout with his son on his phone. Google Now, for those who need a refresher, is an application that uses search history and location history to figure out what information users might need at what times, such as being able to tell users how long their typical commutes will be given current traffic conditions, and being able to figure out how long in advance users will have to leave in order to make appointments. A full video of Google’s ad is posted below.
