With just a few days to go until Samsung unveils its next big thing at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, Spain, more Galaxy S5 rumors and reports offer more and more details about the handset. GSM Arena has learned that the phone may be available in gold right from launch, after getting a hold of a supposedly leaked Vodafone’s inventory system which lists a “Samsung Galaxy S5 Gold contract handset.”
While the color is yet to be officially confirmed, Samsung did release Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 gold versions, although these color options were not available from launch. Considering that the gold iPhone 5s has been very popular with the crowds, and that there are plenty of other gold handsets around, it makes sense to see the new Galaxy S5 handset get a gold option of its own right from the start.
However, it’s not clear what other color options the Galaxy S5 will have at launch – Samsung usually releases more versions down the road – and the purported screenshot from Vodafone does not reveal any actual availability dates or pricing details. The same list includes several other gold smartphones including iPhone 5s and HTC One models. The Galaxy S5 is rumored to launch in mid-March, and cost less than users would expect to pay for a top handset.
