Yet another way the Galaxy S6 will give the iPhone 6 a run for the money

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge: Camera Specs

Considering all the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge rumors that hit the web on an almost daily basis, it’s clear that Samsung has put a lot of thought and effort into this particular phone family — even though its new design might be very similar to the iPhone 6. Samsung is far from its former glory days, at least when it comes to smartphone profits, and the Galaxy S6 could help it change that. In fact, SamMobile has detailed a Galaxy S6 feature that shows yet another way Samsung is fighting against Apple’s iPhone 6.

FROM EARLIER: It looks like Samsung found yet another way to copy Apple in the Galaxy S6

According to the publication, the Galaxy S6 might offer even better photo and video features than any of the previous Galaxy S and Galaxy Note models.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year got great reviews from pro photographers, who were able to come up with amazing ways of capturing great pictures and videos. Overall, Apple is the second most popular camera maker on Flickr, which by itself is impressive considering that Apple has no dedicated cameras in its portfolio.

SamMobile says the new Galaxy S6 phones might ship with a 20-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, in line with what BGR exclusively reported last month.

The main camera will also have optical image stabilization, and will support various resolutions, from 2.4 megapixels all the way to 20 megapixels. Both camera sensors are made by Samsung, the publication says, adding that it’s not clear whether Samsung will have enough camera modules on hand to equip all Galaxy S6 models with the same camera.

In a worst case scenario, only the Galaxy S6 Edge will get the 20-megapixel shooter, considering that the Edge isn’t expected to sell as well as the regular Galaxy S6 model.

Also interesting are Samsung’s developments on the software front, which sound very promising. SamMobile has learned that the camera software on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will include support for a Pro mode. That means savvy users will be able to manually control photo settings, including manual focus (one of the three focus modes), shutter speed and RAW image support.

The gallery app should also be “more intuitive,” the publication adds.

A recent report said the Galaxy S6 models could have dual cameras on the back, but SamMobile‘s inside information doesn’t mention such a feature for the handset.
