The Galaxy S5 Prime is supposed to be a higher-end version of the Galaxy S5, which would sport even better specs and more premium materials. Even though Samsung has denied the existence of such a product, more and more reports have suggested the phone will soon launch. While leaked images of the device have not actually been seen until now, a Redditor has posted an alleged Galaxy S5 Prime image that seems to indicate the phone will also have a metal back.
“I got a photo from a tipster claiming to have just played with a Galaxy S5 Prime test sample,” open1your1eyes0 wrote. “He refused to saying anything other than confirming the rumored metal design and claimed it is a bump up in all specs over the S5 but will be priced accordingly of course.”
The image (above) seems to show a gold metal Galaxy S5 version that still has a heart rate sensor on the back. The Samsung logo is also present on the back.
The Galaxy S5 is selling like hot cakes, but its plastic design has been widely criticized, with Samsung putting up an entire marketing campaign to explain why plastic is a better choice than metal and make the phone look cool.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S5 Prime this June, to face the LG G3 handset that’ll be available around the same time.
UPDATE: Alex Dobie informed us the image above is likely a Photoshop job of a mockup posted by Android Central in early March in an article on the Galaxy S5 Prime. That image follows below.
