Samsung will update the “old” Galaxy S4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop, SamMobile has learned, making Lollipop the third major Android update the handset will receive after Android 4.3 and Android 4.4. It’s not clear at this time when the Galaxy S4 will be upgraded to Lollipop, with the publication saying the Exynos version should get it first at some point in early 2015, assuming everything goes well. After all, Samsung hasn’t been quick to release such updates to previous flagship devices in the past.

More recently, Samsung teased a quick update for the Galaxy Note 4, its latest flagship smartphone. Furthermore, Lollipop test builds for the Galaxy S5 have already been leaked, with SamMobile having offered a sneak preview at a Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 just a few days ago.
Google is supposed to roll out Android 5.0 to Nexus and Google Play Edition devices initially, with other Android handsets and tablets from various Android device makers supposed to get the update next. Of them, Motorola may be the first to update some of its current and past devices, with LG also said to bring Lollipop to the G3 this year.
However, Google is yet to start the official Lollipop update for the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10, even though the first Android 5.0-running Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 might ship as soon as today,
