Not even America’s housewives get this desperate. According to Reuters, more than a dozen women described by the Chinese government as housewives have been arrested and charged for allegedly taking part in an Apple (AAPL) device smuggling operation. Reuters reports that the housewives, in addition to more than a dozen other defendants, are accused of having “smuggled more than 162,000 mobile phones worth over 500 million yuan ($80 million) from Hong Kong over the past two years,” including “both iPads and iPhones.” No word yet on whether the housewives were accused of smuggling the Goophone I5, a.k.a., the Pride of China, as well.
