There are countless technology products and devices that are released on what seems like a weekly basis, and unfortunately, a lot of them suck. They’re gimmicky, they have minor updates, they are buggy, they are hard to use, and they break. So, we thought that there has to be a way to help the regular consumer cut through the noise and determine that they are buying a quality product. And based on feedback we have received from many consumer electronics manufacturers, they would also love a way to highlight their best and most quality products.

With that, we are very excited to introduce the BGR Seal of Approval and also announce the first product we are awarding it to.

But first, here is a bit more about our criteria, which we will continue to clarify in the coming weeks. There are a limited number of products that we will award the BGR Seal of Approval to each year, and each product will have been extensively tested by BGR. While we encourage winners to use the Seal on packaging or in marketing materials, this is purely editorial and it can’t be bought by any company or advertiser.

The first product to be awarded the BGR Seal of Approval is called LyveHome, and it’s made by a new company called Lyve Minds.

There’s one thing we hear a lot of from friends and family, and that’s the frustration over how to go about protecting their most important photos, videos and memories — especially now that they are spread over multiple devices. Apple’s Photo Stream does a decent job, but what if you have an iOS device, an Android device and a PC? What if you just don’t want to worry about it, ever?

The LyveHome hub features a 2TB drive and is the first drive ever to feature its own touchscreen so you can set it up, control it, and see your pictures and videos right from the device itself.

The Lyve App runs on iOS, Android, Windows and Mac, and will automatically and seamlessly sync all of your content to each device without you having to do a single thing. Lyve’s platform is not only secure, the company tells us, but they are making a big push to enable users to rediscover moments and memories by highlighting these in various unique ways across their software.

Lyve also has partnerships with companies like Vizio that allows users to display their personal pictures and videos on their Vizio Smart TVs, and pull in content directly from a GoPro, which is insanely cool.

I have been testing Lyve’s service and hub for over a month and have been impressed with how it has enabled me to forget about syncing photos and not worry about the data itself. The LyveHome is available for purchase now at mylyve.com, and our full review will run in the near future.
