Would you just look at that? Both the U.S. and U.K. Apple stores now show “Currently Unavailable” for both the 8GB and 16GB iPhones. We don’t think Apple simply underestimated demand at this point — they’re up to something! But, it’s only May 10th, a full month ahead of a possible 3G iPhone release. Then again, you have to prepare people. They can’t just show up and say, “Hi. I’m the new 3G iPhone.” Though Apple would love to do that, they need to give a bit of a heads up as they’re dealing with a different beast here — a cellphone. People have contracts with other carriers, etc. So, what’s the general consensus here? Did Apple just run dry, or are we a lot closer to heaven than we originally thought?

Thanks to Jose, E, and everyone else that hit us up!

P.S. It’s not just the online store that is out. We’ve been hearing that almost every Apple store is currently out of stock.
