The rumors were true: Apple just sent out invitations for its next media event which will take place on Thursday, October 16th at its Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino, California. The event will begin at 1 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT and is expected to feature the next iPad Air and a new line of Mac computers.

As usual, Apple didn’t include any specifics regarding the event on the invitation, but recent leaks and reports have made it overwhelmingly clear that a new iPad will be the highlight of the event. The next iPad is expected to feature Touch ID functionality, a redesigned speaker grille, recessed volume buttons similar to those on the iPhone 6 and a host of upgraded internal specs, including the A8 processor and M8 motion coprocessor.

Apple is also expected to bring a new line of Macs to the event loaded with the currently unreleased OS X Yosemite operating system. Don’t be surprised if Yosemite shows up as a free download on the Mac App Store shortly after the event.

There are plenty of other rumors pointing to a new Mac Mini, an updated Apple TV and more, but we’ll have to wait until next Thursday to find out.
