Although Google will certainly be the first company to release a headset capable of projecting images directly onto your eyes, it apparently wasn’t the only company to think along similar lines. In an interview with Fast Company, former Apple exec and current CEO of Nest Tony Fadell reveals that at one point he designed prototypes for a Glass-like headset but that the project never got beyond the early stages because the company was already so busy with the iPhone and the iPad. Google has mostly been on its own when it comes to designing wearable computing headsets and most of its rivals have opted instead to focus primarily on smartwatches such as the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Gear.
