File sharing? AOL? Sounds like a joke, right? It isn’t. America Online has just launched a brand new file sharing service, “innovatively” named BlueString. On a side note, when did the word “Blue” become synonymous with “Appealing New Technology”? Naming conventions aside, this is actually a pretty cool new offering. BlueString provides 5 GB of free storage, with pay-per-byte plans going as high as 50 GB for $99 a year. Not too shabby. In addition to providing standard media hosting services, BlueString allows for multi-media presentations, encouraging users to “String” together media to create a unique web presence. Sounds pretty good to us. The service is available now for anyone that’s down to take the jump.
