That’s what rumor site 9to5 Mac is claiming. The site posits that Apple is poised to announce that it has sold 5 million iPhones. The announcement will supposedly come during January’s Macworld Keynote address. Given Steve Jobs’ initial desire to push 10 million units by the end of 2008, it’s safe to say that the company could be well on their way to achieving that goal. If true, this announcement would be the first official iPhone sales milestone following the initial “1 million sold celebration” that occurred just 74 days after the product’s launch. We’ll have to wait until Macworld to find out for sure, but we wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this turns out to be true.
