Apple will reportedly offer iPhone 6 users who choose the bigger 5.5-inch model an iPad-like storage option, Chinese website Feng.com has learned. According to its sources, only the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will get 128GB of storage, currently an option available only to iPad buyers, while a different report said earlier that the 4.7-inch model will be available in 32GB and 64GB flavors.
A recent note to investors from a well-connected analyst familiar with Apple’s plans claimed that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model will get a camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), while the 4.7-inch model will offer an improved non-OIS iPhone 5s-like camera. So it looks like Apple may be planning to offer phablet buyers a few additional benefits beyond just size.
The iPhone 6 models are supposed to be identical when it comes to design, at least considering what many dummy leaks have suggested so far, but Apple appears interested to offering users more differentiating factors between the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch options in addition to the obvious screen size difference.
The company is expected to launch the two new iPhone 6 models this fall, with a recent report claiming the handsets will launch on September 19, which appears to be in line with Apple’s usual fall iPhone release pattern.
