The past several days have not been kind to Donald Trump’s general election viability. He’s still on track to sweep away the competition when it comes to delegates leading into the Republican National Convention, but after suggesting women should be punished for having abortions and making fun of Ted Cruz’s wife, his general election poll numbers have plummeted.

This, of course, has made for some incredible fodder for the late night talk shows, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. On Wednesday night’s episode, Colbert recapped some of Trump’s missteps this week and then claimed that CBS had invited him to appear on the show to explain himself.
As Colbert explained, Trump was too busy appearing on literally every other network on television, but the former Comedy Central star got the next best thing: a cartoon version of the Republican presidential frontrunner.
This was one of the strangest Trump-related sketches in recent memory, but it’s also one of the funnier bits I’ve seen on the show lately. The animated creation actually reacts as Colbert talks to it, even scooting away as the host gets a little too close for comfort with a pen that he’s convinced might be a bomb.
