Months of teasers for the next season of Daredevil have finally culminated in the first full-length trailer for the Netflix original series. We knew that The Punisher was going to have a major role in season 2, but based on what Marvel shows us in this trailer, it appears that The Punisher might be Matt Murdock’s main adversary this time around.

It’s unclear how much this season will focus on the story of how family man Frank Castle became The Punisher, but the trailer eludes to the fact that his family was taken from him by mobsters in New York City. Seeking revenge, Castle has begun taking out gangs “with military precision,” unconcerned that his tactics might put others in danger.

The ideological differences between Daredevil and The Punisher will be the heart of the conflict in season 2. In fact, this season appears to share a great deal in common with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Coincidence?
At the end of the trailer, we also get our first peek at Elektra, an old flame of Murdock’s that will complicate matters even further. We hope to see even more of her in the second full trailer, which will pop up online on February 25th.
Daredevil season 2 begins streaming on Netflix on March 11th.
